Its alright for short-haired dogs but not for long-haired dogs because it snags and pulls their from the root hair which can be painful. My GSD strongly dislikes it. It's also hard to clean the brush once the hair is in it. lf you don't care whether your dog enjoys the experience, it does work to de-shed no doubt.
