Breathing dust or water small drops containing contaminated bird droppings can lead to several sicknesses, including a flu-like illness called psittacosis. Food poisoning - a bacterial infection that can cause diarrhoea - may also be present in some bird droppings.
Psittacosis is a kind of lung contamination brought about by the bacterium Chlamydia psittaci. Chlamydia psittaci is regularly conveyed by birds of the parrot family including budgerigars, lovebirds and parakeets. This infection can be promptly treated with anti-toxins.
