I bought a small in purple for my 20lb mutt and a medium in green for my 45lb cattle dog. I like to color code my dogs accessories. Perfect fit. Very sturdy.

I bought this leash to go with a gentle leader headcollar. Most of the leashes we own are heavier, this leash is thinner so there is not as much weight hanging off of the dogs headcollar during walks. I was a bit worried after reading some of the reviews regarding the clasp popping open so I attached the leash to the D ring of the head collar and even after tugging and sliding it from different directions I could not get it to pop open,...however because it has been mentioned a few times I will keep this in mind when I use this leash to walk our dog. This is a no frills, basic dog leash that works very well with the Gentle Leader headcollar.
