Should cats have wet food every day?
Different cats have different nutritional requirements based on their size, life stage and more. Kittens needs are different from adult cats. Pregnant cats also have different needs.

If the cat does not have the ideal weight, you may have to give her a smaller or larger portion to help her to maintain a healthy weight. Cats who are active and playful throughout the day require more calories as compared to those who prefer to spend their time sleeping.

Indoor cats may not get as much exercise as outdoor cats, so they need fewer calories.
Provide food to your cat only at particular meal times during the day.

Advantages: Keep an eye on the food intake of your cat. It will be easy for you to know whether your cat has had a change in appetite.

Disadvantages: Cats do not have control over how much she eats at a time. Follow your veterinarian's opinion about what could or should be done, with proper amounts and regular feeding.

When you free feed your cat, try to feed them with dry foods because wet food should not be left out throughout the day.

If you see that your cat has left dry food in its bowl regularly for more than a day, you should throw the leftovers out and clean them properly to maintain their freshness.

Advantages: Free feeding is giving the right amount of dry food only for a particular day at a time in the bowl.

Disadvantages: Free feeding can lead to overeating, due to this the cat may gain body weight, especially if the quantity of food is not limited.

Serving canned food twice daily and dry food is freely available for the meal can be defined as mixed feeding.

Advantages: Combination feeding means when cats eat multiple, small meals of dry food per day on their schedule. It also gives cats the nutritional benefits of both wet and dry food.

Disadvantages: Combination feeding like free feeding can lead to overeating and being overweight. It is important to give the food in proper portions and do not refill the bowl until the next day.

Cat's need changes depending on their size, energy level, and health issues. Consult your veterinarian about the number of calories your cat should consume each day.

Dry adult cat food:
•    Is convenient because you can leave it out and it does not get spoiled easily.
•    Has 10% moisture content.
•    Have more carbohydrates and less protein than wet food.
•    Little better than canned food at preventing dental disease.

Canned adult cat food:
•    Can spoil easily and needs refrigeration after opening.
•    Has 78% moisture content.
•    Have more fat and protein, especially animal protein, and fewer carbohydrates than dry food.
